Thank you for your inquiry about the Mid-Valley Threat Assessment System.
This website provides the basic information regarding our Student Threat Assessment System or STAS, our Student Threat Assessment Team or STAT, and our adult Threat Advisory Team or TAT.
The Student Threat Assessment System is a multi-agency structure located in Salem, Oregon, but serving the mid-Willamette Valley in Oregon.
The system operates within a community that has centralized education resources, risk management and security resources, public mental health and the presence of law enforcement.
It has been adapted to address the rural communities with limited resources or resources contracted through providers located in urban centers.
The adult Advisory Team is a multi-agency collaboration addressing threats of violence for the adult population throughout the region.
We are available to consult with school districts and communities on the development of a Student Threat Assessment System and/or the adult Threat Advisory Team; however, we strongly suggest consideration of the formation of both teams, as schools and communities have clearly been the target of violence from both youth and adults.
From the reviewers:
"[Assessing Student Threats] takes all of the cutting-edge knowledge that is out there, builds a meaningful model, and makes it accessible, functional, and essential for today's schools."
"After being in a class ... I followed up by ordering this book and I'm glad I did. I'd recommend this to any Security/Safety director and their staff for reading."
